2009 Display Update #1
Well it’s that time of year again! Actually, we’re a bit late getting started this year – and we’re adding a bunch of cool new elements this year that you won’t want to miss! For those of you who haven’t seen our display over the past several years, we don’t do a standard christmas light installation – to say the least. But I’ll get more into that later.
So here’s the simple skinny as it stands today:
- We’ll have 4 houses synchronized together this year, including the folks across the street! This will be our first use of the LOR wireless linker system. So far, so good!
- We’re switching out most of the high energy flood lighting and C9 bulbs for vastly more energy efficient LED bulbs. This will be a lot more environmenttally friendly and (more importantly!) free up MORE POWER for expansion of the display
- We will be replacing the LED scanners I used last year with some new fangled rotating LED color changing spinngin spot things *shurg* – they look cool. We’ll see!
- We are going to move out of the ‘mini’ mega tree realm and into the real deal by building a 22′ animated tree of lights. This is going to be outrageously cool!
- We may also try to create a different type of pattern with the lawn lights this year – rather than just striping the lawns, maybe trun them at an angle or something different. We’ll see.
- One of the soolest things we’l try this year is that on at least a couple of nights we’ll have some of the lights connect to our Wii Guitar Hero controllers and will be able to let YOU control the lights in real time with the music! (as long as testing goes well – haven’t done that yet)
- We’ll run a slghtly shortly show with more of a focus on the music rather than the interaction – including a new sequence using a unique version of Winter Wonderland by Stryper
remember those guys? - We’ll once again be supporting the HOPE Food Bank in Aubrey with donations of clothing, non-perishable food and toys.
- The 2009 show will debut at 6pm on Friday, November 27th (Happy Birthday Ang)!
We’re crazy excited to get this one up and running this year and look forward to seeing you!
