Installation Wrap-Up

Well, it’s almost here… the final push begins tomorrow morning. My list of to-do’s is still very long, but my hope is to have everything wired up and ready for testing by Sunday afternoon. It’s funny how much time it takes to install everything. It’s even funnier to realize that there are 3-4 of us in 3 neighboring families spending nearly equal amounts of time on it all. Most people don’t spend 8 hours installing 3200 Christmas lights on the grass in their front yards. For us, that’s just the beginning.

So this weekend I will:

Take a group photo with the team (including the townships of “Shuckville, “Vaderville” and “McKimville”)
Install the mega tree
Place and stake all the cage trees
Install the artificial tree-o
Install and test the new LED scanners
Add more lights to the front beds
Install 40 strobe lights
Install our virtual Santa
Install the snow projectors
Place all the deer and ‘yard art’
Wire the entire display
Test the Amperage running to each channel
Install the controllers
Adjust the power consumption of any channel(s) that need it
Run all the wiring to the controllers
Prep the room that becomes ‘mission control’
Dust off my Santa suit
FIRE THIS MOTHER UP!

We’ll start testing on Sunday evening, have a final run through on wednesday night, overdose on trytophan on Thursday – and debut the 2008 show on Friday night at 6pm. Join us!

Oh yeah, and did I mention that I’ll start installing new flooring in our family room too?
